Yemenite Court Sentences Jew-Killing Jihadist To Very Stern Fine
A Yemeni court ruled Monday that a Muslim on trial for killing a Yemeni Jew is mentally incompetent and merely ordered him to pay a fine for the fatal shooting. The slaying of Jewish teacher Moshe Yaish Nahari last December in Omran, north of the capital, San'a, raised fears of anti-Semitic attacks across the country. Monday's ruling said the defendant - Abdel Aziz Yehia Hamoud al-Abdi, a retired pilot in the Yemeni air force - is "mentally unstable." It ordered him to pay a fine of 50.5 million riyals, or about $250,000. Lawyer Khaled al-Anisi representing the slain teacher says the court showed "prejudice" and warned the light ruling opened doors to attacks that could lead to the eviction of the Jewish community from Yemen.
Al-Abdi confronted Nahari in a marketplace, screamed "Jew, accept the message of Islam," and then pumped five bullets into him. Now while I think that's a sign of mental instability, I'm not sure that leading Muslim authorities would agree. The killer's family - who regularly harassed the victim's family in court - certainly seemed sympathetic to Al-Abdi's position. The harassment and targeting of Jews in Yemen is new and a result of the continuing Talabanization of Yemen fostered in part by that lunatic President, Ali Abdullah Saleh, who promotes and legitimizes the jihaddist ideology... tens of students at Al-Zahra School in Raida assaulted members of the Jewish minority during a random demonstration in protest against the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza. They verbally assaulted Jews, threw stones at their houses, and intimidated their women and children. According to the statement, Jew Zaher Gafri sustained critical injuries, his face swelled up, and his appearance was stained with blood. Other Jewish citizens were subject to various injuries while on the street.
Police and government officials have studiously ignored the Jewish community's pleas for protection. So I wouldn't worry too much about them being "evicted" from the country. There are only 280 left Yemen and they're already clamoring to escape. Some of them are fleeing in secret...
All over the world Jewish communities are increasingly concerned with the growing wave of anti-Semitism. For Sa'adia Ben-Yisrael in Yemen, the grenade thrown at his family's home proved the final straw. Under the cover of secrecy, a group of ten Jews, nine of them members of the Ben-Yisrael family, left their Arab homeland for Israel. Landing in Tel Aviv on Thursday afternoon, Sa'adia, his wife and their seven children seemed overwhelmed by the media attention that welcomed them to their new home. Also waiting for them were representatives from the Jewish Agency, which helped organize the clandestine airlift.

Jewish community members in Amran who have been living in fear following a wave of threats and hate attacks have stepped up their efforts to migrate to Israel. "We are all fed up. All of the Jews are willing now to migrate to Israel but some prefer not to speak up their desire," said Yahia bin Yaish, the rabbi of the Jewish community in the northern governorate of Amran, about 60km north of the capital Sana'a. "We have faced intimidation, attacks and threats. Some have even faced hand-grenade attacks. I myself have received SMS threats on my mobile. We are no longer secured. We are afraid to go to the market and even at home. We have reported this to the local authorities but they are lenient with the people behind the threats," said Mr bin Yaish.
It's not like they have anything to lose. They've already been driven into a ghetto outside the city. So another Arab country will be totally cleansed of Jews. But Israel is the racist, apartheid entity in the Middle East. Obviously.
