Iran: Yes, We've Got a Working Nuclear Reactor. No, We Won't Meet With Obama To Talk About It.

Working

Obama has not stopped promising to meet Iran "without preconditions," which the mullahs have been crowing about as a sign of weakness. Which doesn't mean they're actually willing to meet. As of this week they've refused to talk to Obama, refused to talk to Biden, and refused even to let in the US women's badminton team. They rarely let a day go by without issuing some new refusal.

They have found time, though, to award a medal to anti-Semitic child murderer Samir Kuntar. Oh - and they're going to have their Russian nuclear reactor - protected by their Russian S-300s - online by 2010:

Russia has again delayed the launch of Iran's first nuclear reactor. Officials said Russia has revised its deadline for the start of Iran's Bushehr nuclear energy reactor. They said the latest timetable called for the full operation of the 1,000 megawatt reactor in 2010. "The absolute priority is security," Sergei Kiriyenko, director of Russia's state nuclear corporation, Rosatom, said. "No matter how many times we need to prepare for a safe startup, we will do it." In a briefing on Feb. 5, Kiriyenko said Rosatom was preparing to begin operations at the $1 billion Bushehr in late 2009. He said he would travel to Bushehr in February 2009 to oversee plans to complete the nuclear power plant.

Obama has promised that if Iran brushes off his tough diplomacy he will escalate his tough diplomacy. So no worries.
