Increasingly Pathetic VP-Elect: "I'm The Most Experienced Vice President Since Anybody"

An editor at The Weekly Standard, the conservative magazine, wrote recently that "it may be fair to assume that Biden will be the least consequential vice president since Alben Barkley," the little-remembered No. 2 under President Harry S. Truman. Mr. Biden said that view was fine with him. "It's O.K. if that's what everyone perceives," he said. "It's irrelevant what the outside world perceives. What is relevant is whether or not I'm value added." He said he would bring more to the job than any of his predecessors, except possibly Lyndon B. Johnson. "I know as much or more than Cheney," Mr. Biden said. "I'm the most experienced vice president since anybody."
Cheney worked his way through a half-dozen White House positions before transitioning into the House of Representatives, where he eventually rose to the level of Republican Whip. He stayed in Congress until he returned to the Executive as Secretary of Defense, the position from which he oversaw Gulf War I. During the Clinton years he was a prominent fixture in several prominent think tanks, intellectually incubating the positions that would guide US foreign policy in the post-9/11 years.
Biden has been in the US Senate for the last 35 years, where he became a geopolitical guru despite his fantastical delusions about the Middle East, about economic history, about diplomatic strategy, about military tactics, and about military infrastructure.
Mickey Kaus thinks that Biden's "I'm The Bestest And Shiniest Boy In The Whole World" nonsense is overcompensation but I'm pretty sure that assumes a level of self-awareness that is quite simply beyond this tool.
