MSM Headlines Blame Israel For Scuttling UN Ceasefire That Hamas Unequivocally Rejects

Rejected

They pulled this exact same stunt with the Egypt-France truce proposal. A ceasefire was proposed. Israel said "no way Hamas is ever going to accept this so we're not letting up." Hamas said "yup, no way we were ever going to accept this." Resulting NYT headline*: "Israel Rebuffs Peace Efforts."

So yesterday the UN passed a binding ceasefire resolution with US acquiescence. Israel said "no way Hamas is ever going to accept this so we're not letting up"...

Despite the UN Security Council resolution calling for a Gaza cease-fire, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Friday afternoon that the IDF operation in the Strip would continue... Olmert said that the rocket fire from Gaza Friday morning "only proves that the UN resolution is not practical and will not be honored by the murderous Palestinian organizations."

... and Hamas said "yup, no way we were ever going to accept this":

Top leaders of the militant Hamas group based in Damascus, are calling the U.N. cease-fire resolution "unacceptable," but said that they are preparing to send a delegation to Cairo to discuss an Egyptian peace plan within the next 24 hours. Mohammed Nazzal, who is officially the Hamas representative to Jordan, said in Damascus that the group considers the UN resolution an ultimatum for the groups' "surrender" and will not accept it.

Resulting Reuters headline for the writeup by perennial tool Nidal al-Mughrabi: "Israel rebuffs U.N. resolution, pursues Gaza war". Ditto for the Washington Post - "Israel Rejects U.N. Cease-Fire Resolution" - The Times Online - "War in Gaza: Israel rejects UN ceasefire call" - and the CSM - "Israel continues bombing Gaza despite UN ceasefire call".

Almost difficult to understand why the majority of Democratic voters - likely as they are to be low information voters who rarely if ever get past a headline - condemn Cast Lead.

* Apparently he NYT has scrubbed their "Israel Rebuffs Peace Efforts" headline from a week ago. You can still see people who linked to the story by its original title here and here and in more than 50,000 other places.
