Hamas continues to emphasize and promote the religious ideology that death for Allah is an ideal to be actively pursued... The following is the full text of the comments by Hamas representative Fathi Hamad: "For the Palestinian people death became an industry, at which women excel and so do all people on this land: the elderly excel, the Jihad fighters excel, and the children excel. Accordingly [Palestinians] created a human shield of women, children, the elderly and the Jihad fighters against the Zionist bombing machine, as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: We desire death as you desire life."

Israel is a country bordered by two countries that officially seek its annihilation, a third that's about to go back to officially seeking its annihilation, and intransigent terrorists to the east and southwest. That's before we get to the genocidal, soon-to-be nuclear Iranian regime. And yet the Israelis spend precious military resources - which could have gone into, say, missile defense - to purchase cutting-edge smart bombs that vitiate Hamas's efforts to endanger Palestinians. There's even a good chance that Israel delayed their offensive and thereby endangered Israeli civilians while wait for the first shipment of those GBU-39's. But Israel still gets broadly condemned for Palestinian civilian casualties.
