Watcher's Council Results: So, About This Democracy Thing

Results

The results are in for this week's Watcher's Council nominations. Both of the first place posts focused on how the GOP can rebuild after the Nov. 4 trainwreck - not a particularly straightforward question given that both electoral dynamics and demographic trends indicate that things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. The winner among the Council posts was Bookworm Room's post Reaching New Demographics, which focused on efforts to bring minorities into the GOP fold. The runner-up was A Prospective Obama Administration from The Glittering Eye about exactly what we shouldn't expect over the next 4-8 years. The first place non-Council post - The Great Leap Forward: How the Heck Can We Win Anyway? from Big Lizards - focused directly on how to prepare for the next election. Second place post was tangentially - but critically - related to the consequences of the previous election: Seraphic Secret's Israel: The One Bomb State focused on Israel's missile defense programs. Given that Obama's Iran-focused diplomacy is bound to fail, the only defense Israel will have left may be US-backed missile defense programs - which Obama wants to cut.
