I'm Going To Miss Westminster Abbey - Prince Charles Abandons 500 Year Old Tradition, Wants To Be Defender Of All-Inclusive "Faith" (Plus: Muslim Reciprocation Somewhat Underwhelming In Its Generosity)

I kind of wonder what his Christmas message to the Commonwealth will be like. If there even is a Commonwealth left. Which there probably won't be:
The move would mean the monarch, as Supreme Governor of the Church of England, would no longer be known as Defender of the Faith for the first time since the reign of Henry VIII. The Prince caused controversy within the Anglican church when he floated the idea several years ago of becoming Defender of the Faiths in an attempt to embrace the other religions in Britain. In a compromise he has now opted for Defender of Faith which he hopes will unite the different strands of society, and their beliefs, at his Coronation... Professor Bogdanor said that after the Coronation, which will take place at Westminster Abbey, it was plausible that a second service would be held for other denominations and faiths, such as the Muslims and Hindus. "It would be a way of the new King showing their importance in the country," said Prof Bogdanor.
In additional signs of respect to Muslims this week - presumably meant to show their importance in the country - the British Home Office allowed Hizballah spokesman Ibrahim Mousawi into the country so he could go to a party. That same Home Office reaffirmed its policy of not linking Islamic terrorism to Islam - already a documented liability in the fight against terrorism - despite yet another critical report. The government more broadly extended its long developed plans to sell British government buildings and British government policy to Muslim countries via sharia bonds. Admittedly Saudi financial coercion would be an improvement over how they made Blair "roll over" on a weapons corruption investigation by threatening another 7/7 - but still.
British Muslims reciprocated these gestures by watching as five Islamic terrorism suspects were arrested by British police and then listening as hate cleric Omar Bakri declared that the flag of Islam must be raised over Downing street. Oh - and a British Muslim strangled, stabbed, and slit the throat of his roommate's petite 19 year old Polish Catholic girlfriend on account of how she was, you know, Catholic. So really, good feelings all around.
