Not even an obligatory "neoconservative" or "Likudnik" fig leaf? Change!

Rev. Jesse Jackson... promised "fundamental changes" in US foreign policy - saying America must "heal wounds" it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the "arrogance of the Bush administration." The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end. Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House. "Obama is about change," Jackson told me in a wide-ranging conversation. "And the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it."

I wonder if this counts as the kind of Jewish "Obama Paranoia" that Jeffrey Goldberg was complaining about. Whatever. He's just saying out loud what all of Obama's other supporters are... err... also saying out loud. Or did you think that Biden was kidding when he said that he and Obama will take on AIPAC? What about when multiple Obama advisers blamed America's ills on American Jews?

On the plus side, Iran just set two preconditions for that tete-a-tete Obama wants to have. Condition two of two: abandoning Israel. So while it might seem bad for Obama to sell out the US's closest Middle East ally, at least he'll be able to sit down with one of the US's most intransigent enemies. Sophisticated!

Memo to ostensibly pro-Israel Democratic Jews: you're not going to be able to say that you didn't know.
