Abbas Working Overtime To Reconcile With Hamas, Coordinate With Syria

What?

Which is weird, because the State Department just got done training and arming a second battalion of Fatah soldiers who are supposed to be fighting Hamas in the streets. I wonder how they'll spend their time now:

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met Syrian president Bashar Assad in Damascus on Sunday, briefing him on the Middle East peace process and on efforts to reconcile between his Fatah faction and its bitter rival Hamas. Abbas was wrapping up a two-day visit to Damascus as part of a tour to Middle East and Asian countries that also took him to India. Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, who accompanied Abbas during his tour said, on Sunday, that President Abbas called for Assad's support to end the Palestinian infighting. "The inter-dialogue should not fail. We call on all parties concerned, especially president Assad to support efforts to make the inter-dialogue a success," Erekat told reporters following the Assad-Abbas meeting.

The rest of the article goes on to talk about how Abbas is coordinating his position with Assad, which will come as a surprise to everybody who doesn't know that Fatah is openly coordination with American enemies. It also talks about how Hamas and Fatah are going to release each other's terrorists, which will come as a surprise to everybody who doesn't know that they're releasing each other's terrorists.

Whatever. At least it'll save Fatah the trouble of formally ceding the West Bank. And it'll save their soldiers the trouble of formally defecting to other terrorist organizations. So really, it's an all-around win for everyone. Good job, State Department!
