No reports of anybody actually being offended. But, ya know, why take the chance:

With a stroke of the pen, a college has eliminated Christmas from the calendar. Likewise, Easter is gone, both now being branded "end of term" breaks at Yorkshire Coast College, according to the UK's Daily Mail. The reason? Apparently school officials wanted to make sure they didn't "discriminate." "Every school and college, wherever located, is responsible for educating its learners who will live and work in a country which is diverse in terms of cultures, religions or beliefs, ethnicities and social backgrounds," a spokeswoman for the college told the newspaper. "All employees at Yorkshire Coast College are encouraged to closely follow guidelines set out … for the promotion of equality and diversity," she said. "We constantly review the ways in which we communicate, to ensure that we do not discriminate, and part of those reviews means that we have stopped referring to the Christmas Break and Easter Break and we now have End of Term Break.

British education is huge on tolerance and diversity, of course. Sometimes it's the tolerant decision to punish students who refuse to pray to Allah in class. Other times it's a school field trip to a mosque so the schoolchildren can be called dogs. Even a field trip to Iraq would've been an improvement. Seriously:

Mosques in Britain are more extreme than in Iraq, according to the country's deputy prime minister. Dr Barham Salih claimed some mosques in Blackburn would be banned in Iraq for the extremist messages they preach. He made his comments during a dinner party in Baghdad attended by Tory culture spokesman Tobias Ellwood. The 41-year-old MP claimed Dr Salih said: "I am not surprised that you British are facing so many problems with extremists after what I saw in those mosques in Blackburn. "What I saw would not be allowed here in Iraq. It would be illegal."

Still not as good as the time that the British government replaced "Islamic terrorism" with "anti-Islamic activity":

Ministers have adopted a new language for declarations on Islamic terrorism. In future, fanatics will be referred to as pursuing "anti-Islamic activity". Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said that extremists were behaving contrary to their faith, rather than acting in the name of Islam. Security officials believe that directly linking terrorism to Islam is inflammatory, and risks alienating mainstream Muslim opinion.

But nonetheless charming in its own way.
