Global Outcry As Hamas Soldiers Kill Palestinian Boy, 10 Others, In Non-Civil War Firefight (Plus: Was It Hamas's "Military Wing" Or "Political Wing" That Did The Killing?)

Just kidding, obviously. A dozen Palestinian deaths don't really matter if they can't be used to demonize Israel. As for the civil war part - please. If they had that kind of energy they'd have a state by now:
Hamas forces assaulted the compound of a heavily armed Gaza clan early Tuesday, sparking a fierce street battle that killed 11 people in fighting throughout the night, Hamas officials said. Two bystanders, including a young boy, were among the dead. One of the dead was a Hamas policeman, while the other ten were all clan members... Since taking over Gaza in a bloody coup last year, Hamas has moved to establish order in Gaza's once-chaotic streets and eliminate groups who could threaten its rule. Eleven people died in early August in a clash between Hamas forces and another clan aligned with its Fatah rivals.
None of this would have happened, of course, if only Rice had taken the advice of retired State Department experts and engaged Hamas. Then Hamas would have no motive to try to establish control over Gaza. Even so, these attacks still beg a question: were they launched by Hamas's "political wing" or by their "military wing":
One counter-argument raised by those seeking to excuse this behavior is to attempt to separate Hamas's "political wing" from its "military wing", portraying Hamas as the "legitimate and democratically elected Palestinian government". Irrespective of this, Hamas in its entirety is a proscribed terrorist group under UK terror legislation as well as a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization according to the US State Department. The Guardian's online "Israel and the Palestinians" section, however, includes the "Hamas military wing" (circled) as one of a list of "Useful links". There is no grey area here - this website links directly to an English language site of "Ezedeen Al-Qassam Brigades", which describes itself as "the armed branch of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)." While some Hamas leaders may dubiously claim to be mere politicians (directing and inciting terror from above), the members of the Brigades are actively involved in terrorist acts and some have the blood of innocent Israeli civilians on their hands.
And is the Guardian's "Hamas military wing" the same thing as the AP's "Hamas armed wing":
The shadowy leader of Hamas' armed wing on Tuesday broke a two-year silence with a new vow to continue battle until "victory" over Israel. The new comments by Mohammed Deif were published a Hamas Web site. Hamas said his call to battle was part of a new book glorifying comrades killed in fighting with Israel. Deif is one of Israel's most wanted Palestinian gunmen. He has survived several assassination attempts and lives in hiding. It is believed that he remains seriously wounded.
The attack was about establishing control over Gaza. So presumably it's the political wing. But it's the same Hamas soldiers who fire rockets at Israeli civilians and attack Israeli soldiers. Choices, choices. But in the meantime, it's nice to see that the waves and waves of new Hamas soldiers are finding ways to keep themselves occupied.
