No, Israel Is Not Going Kidnap Ahmadinejad Just So He Can Be Acquitted While Some Other Lunatic Runs Iran

Safe

Honestly, what would be the point?

Former Mossad agent Rafi Eitan hinted in an interview with Germany's Der Spiegel magazine that Israel may abduct Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in order to bring him before the International Criminal Court in The Hague. "It could very well be that a leader such as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad suddenly finds himself before the International Criminal Court in The Hague," the Minister for Pensioners' Affairs told the German publication in an interview published Monday... Asked what he meant by that, the former Mossad agent hinted at the possibility that Ahmadinejad could be abducted, as the Nazi war criminals had been, and placed before the international court.

This would be the same ICC that violates black-letter international law just so they can officially declare that Israel is violating "unwritten" international law. Except since the ICC doesn't have jurisdiction over Israel and couldn't really "convict" it of violating laws that don't exist, it's not actually a conviction. It's merely the basis for international sanctions. So yeah, I don't think that Israel will be appealing to the ICC any time soon.

Besides - let's say that Israel kidnapped Ahmadinejad. That would help exactly not at all. In the worst case it would start an immediate war. In the most likely case, it would incite a pro-hardliner backlash in Iran that would put in power one of the many rising political stars from Ahmadinejad's apocalyptic sect. In the best case, it would break Ahmadinejad's political power and allow so-called conservative pragmatists like Rafsanjani to take control. So-called conservative pragmatists... who also want to nuke Israel.
