Rumors Of Zionist Neo-Con Infiltration Into The Pentagon A Touch Exaggerated (Plus: FBI Anti-Semitic Witch Hunts Becoming A Trend)

Danger

Occasionally you'll get suspiciously anti-Semiticish partisans who rant about how the Pentagon is involved in all kinds of "neo-conservative" "Likudist fronts." First of all, yes, "neo-conservative" and "Likudist" mean exactly what you think they mean. More importantly, if you didn't know, that's utter bullshit:

The American administration has rejected an Israeli request for military equipment and support that would improve Israel's ability to attack Iran's nuclear facilities... U.S. National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen... said, the U.S. would not allow Israeli planes to overfly Iraq en route to Iran... These private messages were accompanied by a series of leaks from the Pentagon that Israel interpreted as attempts to thwart any possibility of an attack on Iran. For instance, the Americans revealed details of a major Israel Air Force exercise in the Mediterranean; they also said they doubted Israel had adequate intelligence about Iran's nuclear facilities. In addition, Mullen spoke out publicly against an attack on Iran.

And as of today, this:

The Pentagon has admitted in an internal report that it wrongly accused an army engineer from Michigan of spying for Israel because he was a Jew. David Tenenbaum of Southfield is an Orthodox Jew and fluent in Hebrew. The Defense Department put him on paid leave in 1997 while it and the FBI investigated his ties to Israel. He eventually was cleared of leaking military secrets, but says he has been vindicated by the report... "It was well known that Mr. Tenenbaum was Jewish, lived his religious beliefs and by his actions appeared to have a close affinity for Israel," the Pentagon report, which was released three weeks ago, said. "We believe that Mr. Tenenbaum was subjected to unusual and unwelcome scrutiny because of his faith and ethnic background, a practice that would undoubtedly fit a definition of discrimination."

Not the first time that the FBI has been a touch over exuberant in leveling the double-loyalty canard against Jews. And yet it seems that the instinct to link religion with ideology is applied somewhat unevenly across the Pentagon. Weird, that.
