As goes UC Berkeley valedictorian Mel Levine so goes the LA Jewish community. Which means that the LA Jewish community is set to usher in the most anti-Israel administration evuh:

The Obama campaign has worked overtime to flatly deny that Brzezinski and Malley are advisors to the senator. At the same time, both the Clinton and Obama bandwagons continue to court endorsements seen as attractive to Jewish voters, with former U.S. ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk backing Clinton, and Indyk's successor, Daniel Kurtzer, now openly supporting Obama... [Levine said that] "Barack Obama is running, essentially, to radically alter George Bush's foreign policy, to re- engage America as a member in good standing of the community of nations, as a country which is not arrogant and focused on military preemption." The moment Obama is sworn in as president of the United States, "America's image to the world is dramatically altered for the better," Levine says, adding that an Obama presidency would actually represent a return to traditional American values.

The people Obama talks to are so far gone that he can't even tell when he's using radical leftist anti-Israel euphemisms. Not his fault. He doesn't have anything to compare them to. And maybe Brzezinski and Malley aren't advisers to Obama after all. Although it would be nice if someone would tell them that because they - along with the Washington Post - certainly think they are.

But can't we all agree that making America "a member in good standing of the community of nations" requires selling out Israel? The entire Arab world says that America needs to be more anti-Israel to appeal to their populations and governments. To get in their good graces Obama would have to downgrade the US-Israel relationship. Fair enough. This isn't rocket science. There's a debate to be had there.

We think that the Arab and Muslim world has overwhelming ideological and geopolitical reasons to hate the US. We think that the US wouldn't win their hearts and minds even if there was a Hamas flag flying over Jerusalem and a US ambassador standing by while Palestinian soldiers saluted it. But we understand that there's a debate to be had. Obama's campaign should be honest enough to have it. Instead they're sending out their surrogates to deny that Obama is a Muslim - as if that's the concern.
