And all it took was an attack on the Hamas terrorists and soldiers who were doing it:

Russia called on Israel and the Palestinian territories to end the latest wave of violence to give a chance to peace talks... "Moscow once again voices its categorical condemnation of the rocket attacks on Israeli territory," Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement. "They must stop immediately." Moscow also said it could not accept that "Shells and bombs are falling on the heads of peaceful (Palestinian) women and children, under the pretext of fighting these acts of terror".

To call the rocket attacks that have been killing and maiming Israeli children a "pretext" seems a little strange, but maybe something got lost in the translation. Maybe Reuters listened really carefully, and just somehow came up with the most anti-Israel interpretation of a diplomat's statements. That's been happening a lot lately.

Or maybe Russia - like the US State Department - thinks that the real problem is that Gazans are getting a very, very tiny response to the war that they elected Hamas to wage against Israel civilians. The difference being that when Israel goes to war, it does everything possible to avoid targeting civilians. Not that it'll help when the UN resolution condemning Israel is rushed to the Security Council.
