Fatah Security Chief: "There Is No Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades Any More" Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades: "Yes There Is"

Atef Sa'ad - a Reuters reporter of such unflagging consistency that CAMERA had already identified him as an open terrorist propagandist half a decade ago - wants everybody to know that Fatah is meeting their Roadmap obligations and Israel is not:
The top Palestinian security official said on Saturday his government was dismantling militant groups, including those connected to President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction. The pledge by Interior Minister Abdel-Razak al-Yahya came one day after Palestinian militants killed two off-duty Israeli soldiers who were hiking near the West Bank city of Hebron... The Palestinians assert that they are meeting their security obligations in the West Bank by launching a security clampdown in some of the largest cities. "There is no al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades any more," Yahya told Voice of Palestine radio, referring to Fatah's largest armed group. He said Abbas's Western-backed government has started "working to dismantle" other militant groups, though he did not spell out how that would be accomplished... Western diplomats say Abbas's forces have taken serious steps in parts of the West Bank to impose law and order, and to crack down on Hamas militants... Israel has yet to meet its own "road map" obligations to halt all settlement activity and uproot Jewish outposts built in the West Bank without government authorisation. Anyway, it could be that the Palestinians are overstating the extent to which they've actually reigned in terrorists just a wee bit:
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Fatah movement's armed wing, al-Aqsa Brigades, slammed on Saturday an official statement by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) which said the group was dismantled. In a press release, al-Aqsa Brigades denied the statements of Abdel Razaq al-Yahia, interior minister of the interim government based in this West Bank city, who said the group was dismantled and doesn't exist any longer. "We tell al-Yahia that we are here and will never drop our arms or accept to be disarmed. We will continue being the pioneers of struggle on the front line to gain the dignity and freedom of our people back," said the group... Al-Yehia claimed that the members of the brigades were "cooperative" after the PNA assured them of their personal safety.
Remember that other time when Palestinian sources and State Department diplomats assured everyone that Fatah moderates were gaining the upper hand against terrorists on the Gaza Strip and West Bank? It was right before Hamas routed Fatah moderates in the Gaza Strip.
