Abject Failure Keith Dayton Moves Goalposts To Justify US Security Assistance, Lets Abbas Try Again

These two guys are both really good at their jobs

Of course he would say that:

The Palestinian Authority is planning to deploy some 500 policemen in Nablus, the largest West Bank city, as part of an effort to end the state of lawlessness and anarchy and undermine Hamas's influence, PA security officials said Thursday... "This is where the Palestinian state will get its first real test," Dayton said. "When you succeed in Nablus, it will send a message throughout the West Bank and it will send a message to your neighbors that you're serious about law and order and that you can do the job." A PA security official said, "Our forces are ready to enter Nablus on November 1. We are only waiting for a green light from Israel."

And here we thought that running post-disengagement Gaza was going to be Fatah's "first real test". In fairness to us, other people who thought that the chance to rule Gaza was Fatah's "first real test" included American politicians, leading Canadian press outlets and US editorial boards. And that's just on the search "first real test." Imagine what "first test" or "test" would have gotten.

It seems like everyone thought that ruling Gaza was going to be Fatah's first test, except the guy who was responsible for making sure that they didn't flunk that test. Which they did.
