Hezbollah: Yeah, We're Definitely Going To Start Another War
We're not worried though, because the State Department and the UN promised to guarantee Israeli security in exchange for Israel withdrawing from Lebanon II. So of course this will never happen:
"Experience has taught us that we can only get out captives back by sticking to our principles, fighting and carrying out more kidnapping operations," Hizbullah's Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Na'im Kassem said Sunday. In a speech marking the return of a Hizbullah guerrilla's body transferred by Israel last week in a swap involving drowned Israeli Gavriel Daweet... Kassem praised the prisoner swap his group conducted with Israel.
Now imagine what would happen if Israel said that they intended to attack a neighboring country. If some Israeli official just went around saying "yeah, we're going to achieve national goals by committing acts of war against neighboring states." And then imagine that there was no UN condemnation and foreign policy experts rushed to explain why that Israeli official didn't really mean what he said. You know what that would make Israel? Iran and its proxies.
Minus the honor killing of women and murdering of gay people and the persecution of religious minorities. And the general backwardness of the culture and the lack of economic infrastructure and the insanity of public conspiracy theories. And probably a couple other minor distinctions.
But as far as getting to threaten your neighbors with minimal public outcry - that would be like Iran and Hezbollah, yeah.
