Hamas Trying To Turn Gaza Into A Humanitarian Disaster - They're Stopping Gazans From Getting Medical Aid

Earlier this morning we suggested that Hamas is deliberately trying to create a humanitarian disaster in Gaza. It's not hard to guess why: they know that the worse the situation gets, the more the international community will clamor for Israel to drop border security. This is an old trick.

Last time it was intentionally starving civilians to demonize Israel. Then Reuters eagerly lapped up the claims of willful Israeli human rights violations. Ditto the Red Cross. And of course, diplomats practically strain at their leashes to urge Israeli security concessions on the thinnest pretexts. So can you really blame the Palestinians for pulling the same move again and again? Even they know enough to go with what works:

Meanwhile, Hamas checkpoints set up within the Gaza Strip have been making it difficult to implement a new joint Israeli-Red Cross mechanism, designed to allow Palestinians in need of urgent medical care to enter Israel. While Israel will permit fleeing Gaza residents to reach hospitals by letting Red Cross members enter the Strip, locate Palestinians who require treatment and bring them back to Israel, the terror group has set up a roadblock near the Erez Crossing preventing the humanitarian organization from bringing them to the crossing.

Like little children, Palestinian thugs know that if they make a big enough mess someone else will eventually sigh heavily and clean it up for them - at Israel's expense. You can say that they're morally wrong, but it's difficult to argue that they're factually incorrect. Six decades of experience with international diplomacy is pretty hard to answer.
