US To Lift Embargo, Pour Money and Weapons Into West Bank
Hamas just received a huge boost in its military strength from all of the weapons that they captured from erstwhile Fatah terrorists. So obviously the solution is to give more money and aid to Fatah in the West Bank. Because they did such a fantastic job with it in the Gaza Strip:
A senior Hamas official in Gaza City said his men had captured more than 50,000 rifles and pistols during raids on the headquarters of the Fatah-controlled security forces. Hamas also seized dozens of vehicles and "important" military equipment, according to the official. "You can say that Hamas is much stronger than it was last week," he said. "We have also captured tons of ammunition and thousands of mortars and rocket-propelled grenades."
Abbas is seeking to restore relations with Hamas and at the same time the US is seeking to give him more money and weapons. Like we said, this is important for maintaining the proper level of violence in the Middle East: when Islamists finally get around to using Iranian arms to overrun the West Bank, it's going to be important for them to have a source to replenish their supplies. Another half decade of US security aid to forces that have shown a total inability to stand up to terrorist thugs sounds like the perfect solution.
