Random Bitter Geek Thought Of the Day - Academics Not So Much With the National Security
From last Sunday's User Friendly:

Sure that sounds good in theory. But you just know that some petulant and self-righteous English professors would form an action committee to object to "the use of humankind's literary legacy in torture". They'd name it something idiotic like the Society for Peace and Literature, and then they'd start issuing delusional, conceited manifestos demanding government accountability. There would most certainly be a panel about it at MLA next year. And then down the line there would another one, undoubtedly titled something insipid like "A P(l/e)ace Of Our Own: Resisting Aesthetic Securitization, The Society for Peace and Literature Two Years Later".
You have to wonder: what does it say about liberal academics, that they would care about something like that?
