Hey Anti-Bush / Anti-War / Anti-Republican American Jews: Iran Is Helping Hamas Kill Jews
Well you know, Hamas is probably just engaged in "legitimate criticism of the State of Israel" (anti-Zionist, not anti-Semitic... important distinction!) So there's probably nothing wrong with this:
But when it comes to Hamas, Iran's interests are based primarily on its rivalry with Washington and with its Arab allies for influence in the region. "Political Islam is very pragmatic," said Beirut-based Palestinian analyst Souheil Natour. "They are playing realpolitick."
And thus collapses another pillar of leftist, international sophistication: Sunnis and Shiites can never get along or work for a common purpose, because they're too opposed to each other. Someone get Juan Cole on the phone and tell him he's an idiot. Or at the very least, an intellectually dishonest fraud. We think the former, but we're willing to hear arguments that it's merely the latter.
