Hamas More Or Less Embraces Book Burning (Plus: Europe and Russia Rush To Reward Them With Aid!)
They're all but burning books at this point:
Lapid charged that all fundamentalist faiths censor books in general and children’s and adolescent’s books in particular. “It reached a peak when the Nazis burned books by Jewish authors in Nazi Germany. It is just one expression of the religious fanaticism of the radical Islam which Hamas subscribes to. We must hope that the Palestinian public rises up against this blow to the fundamental rights of children to learn about life,” he said.
Tommy Lapid is the essence of the Israeli secularist. We're not exaggerating about this. The man more or less founded and led the most organized secular movement that Israel has ever seen, the Shinui party. He's a moderate's moderate. So when he starts throwing around phrases like "in the service of the kingdom of evil", you gotta wonder whether there's something to the claim that these Hamas radicals are bad people.
Incidentally, how about this for worst argument of the day (week?):
Ummm.. preserving the values of Palestinian society is a nationalistic motive. When those values are Islamic values that hysterically paint Jews as pigs and dogs, then those are racist motives. Are we missing something here?
So the Palestinians have added shades of book burning to their open advocacy of genocide. Perfect time for Europe and Russia to start pouring aid into their arms. Of course, for appearance's sake, both are hoping to wait a week for this whole "gosh, they really seem like Nazis" thing to die down.
