Well here's a shock:

We don't just want to emphasize this as yet another example of Democratic hypocrisy, where outward progressives are actually sexists and bigots. That's true, but that's not what's significant about this - or about any of the other examples of unhinged leftists. There's something particularly ugly - and common - across the board of leftist lunacy.

They accuse Republicans of sexism. But they're the ones screaming that Republican women whores and sluts, devoting entire websites to sexually violating Ann Coulter. To say nothing of defending a President who sexually exploited a woman his daughter's age.

They accuse Republicans of xenophobia - and they're the ones sending Michelle Malkin emails calling her a banana and a coconut and being openly racist on TV.

They accuse Republicans of racism - and they're the ones painting blackface on Republican African-Americans.

They accuse Republicans of censoring their opponents. But they're the thugs physically assaulting conservative speakers.

They accuse Republicans of lockstep conspiracy plots - and they're the ones enforcing silence through smoke-filled mailing lists.

They accuse Republicans of anti-Semitism. But... well, if you don't know then you're beyond help.

The point isn't just "what would happen if Republicans acted like this". The point is that in their deep and resentful minds these lunatics do believe Republicans act like this - and since Republicans don't, the question is why so many liberals desperately hold on to such obviously false beliefs. Part of it is that it insulates their own sense of smug superiority. But that can't be all of it. It's also a great personal strategy to assuage one's conscience. As long as they blame all of their worst features on their hated enemies, they never have to deal with their own outbursts of sexism, racism, paranoia, and Jew-hating. How convenient.
