World To Give More Reconstruction Aid To Lebanon. Still Nothing For Israel.

The United States is expected to give a substantial donation to Lebanon at this week's Paris III aid conference for the war-torn nation, Ya Libnan reported on Tuesday. The total is expected to exceed the $230 million that the U.S. contributed to reconstruction efforts last year. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will attend Thursday's conference in Paris, where she is expected to announce a major increase in the $30 to $40 million Washington has pledged in aid to Lebanon in recent years. Any amount of money offered to Lebanon would have to be approved by the U.S. Congress. A State Department official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the proposal have not been announced, told AP that Washington is ready to help the democratically elected government of Lebanon.
International reconstruction aid given to Israel, the victim of Hezbollah's act of war? $0. Maybe Siniora can use some of that money to get Hezbollah back into the Lebanese cabinet, so they can launch their next war like they did their last one - as part of the democratically elected government of Lebanon.
