When LGF posts audio of an elected Democrat diving into the very depths of batshit crazy conspiracy theory, obviously it gets picked up by most of the center-right blogosphere. Here's the LGF graf:
The best part is at the end, where Hinchey says that even though he has no proof and his charges make no sense, it's still important that he speak his truth to power. And then the audience cheers wildly, as if to urge on the Democrats fighting against things that don't exist - but would be really bad if they did.
But hey, if Democratic lawmakers ceased doing battle against fake conspiracies, they might actually have to take a position on Iraq. And then who knows what could happen...
As matters of civic society, people should at least be minimally aware of the other side's caricatures of them. It helps to keep the wheels of public deliberation greased when stereotypes do not become real life. Also, it helps when people don't go out of their way to be aggressively stupid.
