Democratic Leader "Pleased" Israel Has No Plans To Defend Itself From Iran
A couple of days ago the Sunday Times dropped the not exactly bombshell new that Israel is working on plans to militarily degrade Iran's nuclear capabilities. The only reason that the article made any sort of news is that the Times asserted that these new plans involved using low-yield nuclear weapons (one-fifteenth the strength of the 1945 atom bombs) to get at the hardened enrichment facilities in Natanz and Arak. Yesterday, Israel - obviously - denied the whole thing. The speculation is that either the Times made the whole thing up or that this was a leak designed to either deter Iran or goad the US into taking the Iranian threat more seriously.
But buried in the Fox News report is this little gem from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, representing a party that gets about three-fourths of the American Jewish vote:
Because really, why should Israel attack military nuke-making facilities in a country where officials refer to the Jewish State as a two-bomb country, and where the popularly-elected President promises to wipe six million Jews off the face of the planet? And that's before we even get to the idea that an American official of not underwhelming authority is "pleased to hear" that one of the few things that could prevent Iran from getting the bomb is not being considered - Iran being a prominent leader of global political Islam, which, at the risk of sounding over dramatic, represents an existential threat to Western civilization.
These people are play-acting at how they think serious policy-makers behave. They're just not serious people.
