Somali Islamists: Pray Five Times Or Get Beheaded
Residents of a southern Somalia town who do not pray five times a day will be beheaded, an Islamic courts official said Wednesday. Public places such as shops and tea houses in Bulo Burto, about 124 miles northeast of Mogadishu, should be closed during prayer time, and no one should be on the streets, said Sheik Hussein Barre Rage of the town’s Islamic court. “As Muslims, we should practice Islam fully, not in part, and that is what our religion enjoins us to do,” Rage said. The decision is not binding on courts in other towns.
Tsk tsk. Embracing Islam fully means beheading people who don't pray five times a day? Looks like somebody didn't get cc'd on the "Religion of Peace" memo, huh.
Hey, doesn't everybody remember when Islamists took over the south of the country, and the LA Times headlined their story with "Islamists Sow Calm, and Concern, in Southern Somalia"? Oh, it's true! At the time, we said "wow, that's kind of stupid since Islamists generally create calm by killing people". Now we can't really take credit for seeing this coming, since EVERYBODY saw this coming.
Except, apparently, the Los Angeles Times.
