Hamas Getting the "Recognizing Israel" Thing Already

We're shocked it took them this long to figure it out:

The Izz a-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ armed wing, claimed responsibility for firing on Israeli troops in central Gaza Tuesday. A joint release with the Popular Resistance Committee’s Salah a-Din Brigades said the groups’ armed operatives participated in the gunbattle near Kissufim.

Exactly! The armed wing does the terrorism, and the political wing says that they 'don't have control over the armed wing' and that they 'need more concessions to bolster moderates who favor negotiations'. How is this difficult? Seriously, if we were n charge of Hamas they'd already have a Palestinian state with its capital in Haifa. Or Tel Aviv. Or wherever they wanted. Of course, it'd be tough to make suggestions what with the whole "they'd kill us for being Jewish as soon as we tried to help" thing, but this is a thought experiment. But seriously, this isn't difficult: Psst, guys - if you say that you're considering moderating, the world will let you get away with murder. Literally.
In other news, a reader emailed us to suggest that Lebanon II may have made us more cynical.
