President Clinton Maybe Has Marital Issues - We Dunno, We're Just Guessing
Talk about posts that write themselves:
Clinton: Israel, Palestinians cannot divorce...
Former US President Bill Clinton said on Monday that despite Hamas' rise to power in the Palestinian Authority, Israel and the Palestinians cannot isolate themselves from one another. He said the two peoples share a small land which they have to divide into two states since expulsion is not an option, he said in Washington during a conference organized by the United Jewish Communities.
Look, we're sorry that a couple million people have spent the last 5 days discussing whether or not it's fair to say that you were too preoccupied cheating on your wife to save 2,996 American lives. We are - we actually tend to like DLC Democrats, and we'd even consider voting for some of them if they didn't always install State Department Arabists into major positions of influence. Or if they weren't beholden to a lunatic anti-Israel base. Or if they didn't value the opinion of legal experts who want to turn the War on Terror into a law enforcement problem. Or if they weren't so resentful after eight years of being out of power that they could be trusted to keep the good parts of the Bush administration's military commitments. Or if they weren't inclined to barter Israeli security for diplomatic capital at the UN. Or if there were any Christian Zionists in their party who could hold their feet to the fire the next time Hezbollah attacks Israel. And so on. But in the abstract, if they weren't Democrats committed to Democratic party institutions, we could see ourselves voting for some of them as individuals.
But back to this President Clinton speech: listen, we know you're preoccupied with the Lewinsky thing. But please don't play out your insecurities about Hillary's medium-term plans by trying to destroy Israel. Thank you.

UPDATE: OK, YNet doesn't have any direct quotes where Clinton insists that the Palestinians and the Israelis have to stay together for the kids. The headline might have been a YNet writer having some fun by extrapolating an explicit divorce reference from Clinton's still-very-awkward "Israelis and Palestinians live in the same house, they can't just not talk to each other" theme. Which would be very, very funny.
