Israeli Magen David Adom has to Get Approval - From Palestinian Red Crescent
There are times when the mindless anti-Semitism anti-Zionism of international humanitarian organizations seems positively surreal. This is one of those times:
Israeli and Palestinian emergency services signed a pact on Monday which top officials said should help end a decades-old dispute and ease Israel's entry into the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. The accord comes a week before the 192 signatory states to the 1949 Geneva Conventions decide whether to adopt a third emblem to allow the Israeli Magen David Adom to take its long-sought place in the global humanitarian alliance.
The movement, which includes the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, recognises only the cross and the crescent and not the Magen David Adom's red Star of David.
The Israeli organization - which uses a Red Star of David in the same way that Christian groups use a Red Cross and Muslim groups use a Red Crescent - had to meet two conditions to gain the right to be allowed to provide aid and comfort to people in other countries. First, they had to give up on actually having the Star of David as their symbolic because it just looked too Jewish...
The Magen David Adom rescue service Tuesday welcomed the intention of the international Red Cross to introduce a new emblem that will pave the way for Israel's inclusion into the lifesaving organization. Switzerland will host a diplomatic conference in early December to approve the proposed new emblem, to be called the red crystal.
... and second they had to get a stamp of approval from the Palestinian Red Crescent so that. That would be the same Palestinian Red Crescent that uses ambulances - in violation of every international law ever - to transport terrorists and bombs:
On March 10 2003, a hearing was held in the military court in Bet El regarding the indictment of Isalam Jibril, a Red Crescent ambulance driver, who is charged with using ambulances to transport weapons to terrorists of the Fatah Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades in Nablus and Ramallah.
Among the weapons that the accused transported were guns and explosive belts which were intended for use in terror attacks. In order to disguise the contents of the ambulance, Jibril also transported a doctor and his brother's wife and children, and drove to a checkpoint outside Ramallah where IDF forces stopped him.
But the international Red Cross held up Magen David Adom's acceptance until those people said it was OK.
