EU Lies, Allows Hamas Terrorists to Stream Into Gaza
A little over a week ago, the US and the EU forced Israel to transfer control of the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza to the Palestinians. In return for giving up control of this vital security point, Israel was promised that EU monitors would prevent the crossing from being used to facilitate terrorism. They lied:
Only days after the Rafah border crossing was reopened, another senior Hamas operative who previously lived abroad crossed back into the Gaza Strip. Fadel Zahar is the first high-ranking Hamas official known to return to the Gaza Strip since the border crossing was reopened last Friday. His brother, Mahmoud Zahar, is the top leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip...
Many Hamas members who have been living in different Arab countries have returned to the Gaza Strip since Israel relinquished control over the Rafah terminal. Last week, shortly before Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas inaugurated the border crossing, another Hamas activist crossed the border into the Gaza Strip. Rafik al-Hasanat, a senior member of Hamas who has been wanted by Israel for more than a decade... Hasanat belonged to Izzaddin al-Kassam, the armed wing of Hamas; he fled to Egypt in 1993 after he learned that the IDF was searching for him because of his involvement in terror attacks.
And people actually have the nerve to wonder why Israel won't accept security assurances from the international community.
As Hamas augments its numbers and power with tacit European approval, their highest political leader Khaled Mashaal swore yesterday that Hamas will soon go back to murdering Israelis... because Israel has no right to exist and Jews have no right to live there:
The political leader of the Palestinian terror group Hamas on Wednesday said it would not renew a truce with Israel when it expires at the end of the year and accused the Jewish state of violating the agreement that reduced violence.
"All circumstances on the ground, the regional political atmosphere and the Palestinian situation are not encouraging to renew the truce," Khaled Mashaal told The Associated Press in a telephone interview in Damascus. "Hamas is not going to renew the truce because Israel did not abide by the conditions of the truce."...
Mashaal said Hamas "will never abandon any Palestinian right and will not recognize the legitimacy of occupation whatsoever. This is a fundamental principle of the group." His response was to a question about Hamas accepting a two-state solution, with Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in autonomous countries.
