State Department Spouts Utter Nonsense, Undermines Israeli Self-Defense
It really just boggles the mind:
While affirming an Israeli right to self-defense, the State Department on Monday chided Israel for imposing travel restrictions on West Bank Palestinians in response to a terror attack. In a message also delivered privately by Lt. Gen. William Ward, the U.S. security envoy in the region, the State Department said it continued to ask the Israeli government "to take steps to ease the daily plight of the Palestinian people."
We'll try to make this as brutally plain as possible: Israel needs roadblocks for self-defense. No roadblocks means no self-defense. It's both or none:
David Baker, an official in the Prime Minister's Office, denounced the shooting. "As part of a series of humanitarian gestures, Israel removed roadblocks and eased up on the Palestinians," he told Haaretz. "The Palestinians have nonetheless exploited these measures, which has led to these murderous attacks."
While affirming the State Department's right to conduct diplomacy on behalf of the State Department, we would like them to stop dialing telephones, printing press releases, or leaving the continental United States. Oh? They need all those things to successfully do their job? They'll just have to try a little harder... for humanitarian reasons, of course.
