Although he did not elaborate, Mashaal was apparently alluding to the United States and Israel. In the worst fighting between Hamas and Palestinian police in nearly a decade, three people were killed last Sunday, including the deputy police chief in the Shati refugee camp near Gaza City, who was shot in the head after he and his men ran out of bullets during a Hamas assault on their station.
We think that this is progress: just a week ago, Hamas was telling baldfaced lies about Israeli attacks. But now their lies have become so absurd that even they can't even say them out loud - they have to use weasel "everybody knows" conspiracy theory nonsense.
