How Many Shots Can a Terrorist Shoot Without Displaying His Weapon?
Last weekend, Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas banned Hamas from displaying their weapons in the Gaza Strip. This weekend, we here at Mere Rhetoric wonder if shooting at Palestinian Authority soldiers counts as "displaying":
At least three Palestinians were killed in fierce clashes between Palestinian Authority security forces and Hamas gunmen that erupted on Sunday evening in various parts of the Gaza Strip. PA security sources said the three victims, Ali Makkawi, the commander of the PA Police station in Shati refugee camp, a police officer and a 10-year-old girl, who was run down by a police car, were killed when hundreds of Hamas gunmen attacked the station with rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons.
Hundreds of Hamas gunmen brandishing military grade weapons - we're sure this is Israel's fault somehow. Hamas probably launched an organized military style attack against a Palestinian police station to express their "legitimate frustration" at the now non-existent occupation (habit or something). At the risk of being overly heavy-handed: these people were never freedom fighters and they were never resistance fighters. They're thugs and terrorists, and if the United States is going to recognize the organization, it should at least be honest with the kind of criminals and murderers it's legitimizing.
