How'd That Get There?
As part of Israel's ongoing "what part of no didn't you understand" military and police crackdown, all kinds of interesting Palestinian terrorists are being rounded up. Today's "what the hell?" arrest is that of one Ya'akub Abu Assab:
A senior Hamas operative who served as the Jerusalem-based liaison between Hamas operatives in Saudi Arabia and activists in the West Bank is under arrest, Jerusalem police chief Ilan Franco said Tuesday... "This is a very serious affair of a terror organization illicitly operating in east Jerusalem," Franco said.
During the suspect's interrogation it emerged that Assab served as the top Hamas official operating in Jerusalem and was the point-man between Hamas officials based in Saudi Arabia, with whom he was in Internet contact, and those in the West Bank, Franco said at a press conference at Jerusalem police headquarters.
The Saudis are on the good side of the Wars on Islamism and Terrorism. Except for the part where they openly fund and facilitate terrorism. And also their Islamist laws, which outlaw women who want to expose their faces and homosexuals who insist on being alive.
