Unbelievable

Hamas tries to show off by marching a parade of weapons through a densely-packed neighborhood. They load up hundreds of home-made rockets and missiles into the backs of pickup trucks that, shall we say, lack adequate shocks. Unsurprisingly, one of the accidentally explodes, killing 15 people:

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas Saturday blamed Hamas for a deadly explosion at a rally in Gaza Friday that left at least 15 people dead. He said the Islamic group put civilians at risk by parading with weapons in crowded neighborhoods.

But of course Hamas can't admit that their machoistic flaunting was the military equivalent of the high school football player who hurts himself benching above his strength, so they make up wild-eyed conspiracy theories about some ultra-secret Israeli sabotage. And now, since according to Hamas they've been the target of a successful Israeli strike, they naturally have to retaliate by firing 26 rockets into Israel:

They believe that Hamas had no other choice but to fire rockets at Israel after it had accused Israel of standing behind the Jabalya explosion. Failing to target Israel would have invited more pressure on Hamas from the Palestinian public to remove its gunmen from the streets. Moreover, it would have been seen as an admission on the part of Hamas that the explosion was the result of a "technical failure" or "human error" during a military rally that was held in the middle of a residential area, jeopardizing the lives of women and children.

Of course, no country in the world can allow terrorists to literally launch missiles at people's homes. Israel retaliated by precisely targeting Hamas leaders and weapons facilities. And who is at fault for the renewed violence:

Nabil Shaath, the deputy Palestinian prime minister, denounced the air strike as "an act of criminal aggression" and said it threatened to derail an already fragile ceasefire. The Israeli army did not comment.

Hamas recklessly mishandles weapons, killing 15 people and injuring 100. Then Hamas launches missiles at towns in Israel, injuring more people. Israel retaliates by trying to stop the very Hamas leaders who, in 24 hours, have killed and injured both Palestinians and Israelis - and when Israel attacks, that's when the ceasefire is threatened. You would have thought that the 26 rockets fired into the roofs and streets of Israeli towns would threaten it, but you'd apparently be wrong.
