Israeli Chief Rabbi Issues Edict Against Any Jew Who Damages Mosques
While Muslims all over the world and the vast majority of the media struggle to find every possible excuse for the Palestinians' destruction of synagogues, Jewish leaders are taking their own extraordinary steps - to protect mosques from retaliation:
As videos beamed across the world showing the desecration of synagogues in Gaza, Chief Sephardi Rabbi Shlomo Amar said Monday evening that he would considering ostracizing any Jew that damages mosques in retaliation. "I and other rabbis are considering putting a Cherem [ban] on any Jew that desecrates Mosques or other holy places. "What right do Jews have to hurt the places of worship of other faiths? It is a good thing that the peoples of the world pray to God." When a Jew is put in cherem he cannot join other Jews in prayer or in meals and other Jews cannot come closer than 2 meters from the ostracized. No business transactions can be done with him beyond what he needs for his substanence.
While at most the barest of few imans are willing to criticize the willful desecration of Jewish holy places - and certainly no figures of any importance - one of the two Chief Rabbis of the Jewish state has threatened to destroy the religious existence of any Jew that damages any mosque. While the slightest hint of even fake Muslim religious tolerance is trumpeted from every media outlet, even truly radical Jewish steps are met with deafening silence.
