Israel Jumps to Remedy Inequality, MSM Yawns
Just last week, the international media was oh so proud of themselves for the tiny morsel of Jewish-Arab legal inequality that they found in Israel. Now Sharon has taken less than 10 days to order a complete overhaul of the offending legislation (an overhaul that, in fairness, we were against):
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon Sunday pressed Justice Minister Tzipi Livni to move for an urgent amendment to the law on compensation of terrorist attack victims, in order to provide compensation for the Israeli Arab victims of a shooting attack by a Jewish terrorist in the northern town of Shfaram last month... Following Sharon's order, Livni directed Attorney General Menachem Mazuz to move toward formulating an amendment to the law that would allow financial compensation to those harmed by Jewish terrorists. At present the law recognizes only victims of terror attacks perpetrated by anti-Israel organizations as eligible for compensation by the National Insurance Institute.
We anticipate a massive, celebratory media storm. Any day now.
