Hey Gals, Check This Out
Did you know that militant Islamists hate women:
Women will not be included in the cabinet of Iran’s new hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a leading ultra-conservative figure said on Sunday. Hamid-Reza Taraghi, a central committee member of the Motalefeh Party, told a state-run news agency, "The circumstances for women to be ministers in the cabinet do not exist, but probably they can become deputies".
Q: How does a civilization that suppresses fully half its brain power progress?
A: Very slowly.
Hey, at least they can still become deputies (probably)! They still can't show anything but their eyes in public, but being a deputy is kind of cool. If you go for that sort of thing. At times like this, we like to go back and review what avowed centrists in the Democratic party say about Iranian democracy:
Here is what Clinton said at a meeting on the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland... "Iran today is, in a sense, the only country where progressive ideas enjoy a vast constituency. It is there that the ideas that I subscribe to are defended by a majority."
Yes indeed. Very progressive. Vast constituency. In fact, Iran's electorate is so vast and progressive that 60% of them voted to elect a guy who won't let women into the government. We continue to be baffled as to how militant Islam was allowed to metastasize in the 1990s.
