Arab Intellectual Recalculates Jewish Demographics
Another part of the Jaber interview features this little bit of number-crunching:
"Regardless of the logic of conspiracy, I would like to say something. We read history, and we know that since The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, Zionism has forged the New Testament - and by now, 60 million in the U.S. alone have left Christianity to become believers in the Torah.
This analysis, of course, is in stark contrast to the statistically validated, inevitable decline of the kind American Judaism that is grounded in feel good, cafeteria style ("I'll take some of this, some of that - nope, don't want any of that one") tikkun olam pseudo-theology:
Based upon the data and the various population studies that are now available, it appears that an extraordinary disintegration of the American Jewish community is in process. There was a time when every Jew could take it for granted that he or she would have Jewish grandchildren with whom to share Seders, Sabbath and other Jewish moments. However, the clear data indicates that this expectation is no longer well founded. Indeed, our studies show that within a short period of time the entire complexion of the American Jewish community will be altered inexorably.
The research targeted three key quantifiable elements of Jewish survival: intermarriage rates, birth rates, and levels of Jewish education. When all of these factors are tabulated and correlated, a troubling picture emerges of the future of American Jewry. Skyrocketing intermarriage rates, declining birth rates, and inadequate of Jewish education continue to decimate the American Jewish people.
This would usually be where we launch into a tirade about how the only way to preserve a religion is to make exacting demands, couched in the language of exceptionalism, on younger generations - but we did that just a little while ago. Se we'll stick to just letting this post be about the close relationship between anti-Semitism and public intellectuals in the Arab world.
