There's That Word Again
They can't wake up in the morning without throwing around medieval anti-Semitic cant:
Palestinian Authority Minister of Civil Affairs Muhammad Dahlan, who is in charge of coordinating with Israel the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, on Wednesday accused Jewish settlers of "poisoning" the lands in the settlements slated for evacuation.
In 1321, 5,000 Jews were burned alive for poisoning fountains. During the Black Plague, over 20,000 Jews were murdered for poisoning wells. In 1546, Martin Luther published the Admonition Against Jews, again designed around the well-poisoning canard. Who says that terrorists don't study history?
Dahlan also said that "if Israel doesn't relinquish its control over crossings and terminals, this means that Israel is not withdrawing from the Gaza Strip; it means that Israel is deepening its occupation," which shows that he doesn't really understand what the word "deepen" means. Maybe all those history lessons are crowding out vocabulary in Palestinian elementary schools. Tough to tell.
