Let's Play a Game of Who Am I Going to Believe

Today's fifth column candidate:

The Prisons Service on Monday accused Arab MK Abdul Malik Dahamshe of inciting to violence and of being partially responsible for the shooting attack near Hermesh in which 28-year-old Yvgeny Reider was killed.
The Islamic Jihad took responsibility for the attack claiming it was perpetrated as an act of revenge to the alleged desecration of three Korans two weeks ago by guards at Megiddo Prison in the north. At the time of the incident, Dahamshe harshly criticized the Prisons Service and accused the prison warden of trying to cover up the defilement.

That claim, of course, turned out to be false - the prisoners had desecrated the Koran themselves (new Jihad slogan: "The Koran - holy enough to kill over, but not holy enough not to destroy so you can havea good excuse to kill Jews" [that lacks a certain grace, no? -- ed "Being Arab in Today's Middle East: move to Israel, get more political rights than anywhere else in the world, incite murder anyway"... same problem]). Anyway, Dahamshe - who is, have I mentioned, a member of Israel's government, is refusing to apologize and instead claims that he's being persecuted (how original). My main problem with believing him is that, well, he's a pathological anti-Semitic liar:

Dahamshe: That the Western Wall is holy to the Moslems is not new. We think, and also knowledgable Israeli sources think, that the Western Wall is not associated with the remains of the Jewish Temple. When the Temple was destroyed not a single stone remained in place. The Western Wall is part of the Al Aqsa Mosque. When Mohammed took his horse to Jerusalem --and it was a special horse--he tied it to the Western Wall before he ascended into heaven. Also Jewish sources say that there is nothing connecting the Jews to the Western Wall.
