Root Causes
The PFLP struck a blow for good and freedom yesterday, convincing a 16 year old that mass murder was better than growing up. Maybe it had something to do with this:
What do Palestinian schools teach?... * Ninth grade textbooks assert, "Treachery and disloyalty are character traits of the Jews and therefore one should beware of them." * Jihad and martyrdom are glorified as the means to liberate "Palestine," and children's poems contain calls to war and bloodletting. Fifth graders memorize such lines as, "I shall take my soul in my hand and hurl it into the abyss of death." * Sixth-graders read of a young boy growing up with "the love of Jihad flowing through his veins and filling every fiber of his being." "Joy" comes only at "the sight of the enemy lying dead" or "fleeing for their lives.”
Or this:
The Palestinians are calling on the youngest to join the battle, and using a stunning tactic: commercials on Palestinian TV asking children, "Drop your toys. Pick up rocks."... Even using actors to recreate... 12-year-old Mohammed al-Dura dying in his father's arms... The commercial shows Mohammed in paradise, urging other children to quote, "Follow him."... At Mohammed's school in Gaza today, the daily prayer and a call to arms. "Are you afraid?" the teacher shouts "No," they answer.
Or this:
Fletcher also takes the NBC camera to Gaza where children assembled in military-style ranks in a schoolyard are challenged to set aside their fears. They shout: “We ask Allah to destroy the Jews.” Children are seen training for military confrontation.
Actually, it's probably just the life of hopelessness and poverty in the terrorities. Which is why we see hopeless and poverty-stricken children all over the world rushing to become suicide bombers. All the time.
