How Did It Come To This?
The whole world, including Israel, simply assumes that the Palestinians are going to respond to the assassination of the Doctor of Death (listen, that's their name not ours) by murdering Israeli children. And of course, they're right - Hamas is already threatening to bring murder and horror to "every house" in Israel.
Full stop. How the hell did we get to this point?
When did it simply become accepted that for some cultures, a reasonable response to the killing of even a spiritual leader is to murder massive amounts of the other sides' civilians. The world seems to accept that for Palestinians, genocidally driven murder is simply on the spectrum of possible responses to frustration: some Palestinians will protest in the streets, some will fire guns into the air, and some will kill Jewish kids.
The international community simply assumes that the blowing up of busses is one of the costs that Israel has to incur when it fights terrorists - that Israel should have to weigh the costs and benefits of stopping terrorists versus the costs and benefits of angering other terrorists. When Israeli cabinet minister Rehavam Ze'evi - who, incidentally, was not in the process of ordering and blessing the deaths of civilians - was assassinated, the world called on Israel not to retaliate. Now that Yassin has been assassinated, the world is blaming Israel for inflaming the Palestinian street. When Israelis are murdered, Israel is expected to keep quite - and when Israel doesn't keep quiet, it's blamed for the murder of Israelis. And the world acts as if that's just inevitably the way things are.
UPDATE: Seriously, when did it become OK for major governments and social leaders openly advocate revenge? Has the world so lost it's moral compass that outright calls for murder by Muslims no longer merit censure?
