As promised we’re back this morning, with the show scheduled to start in just under an hour. Also as promised, today’s episode is going to be heavy on media bias, from the JournoList leaks about liberal foreign policy thinking to this pointed confirmation of the international media’s anti-Israel double standards. Just the rundown of things that Goldstone isn’t investigating and that aren’t subject to international human rights hysteria – 300+ killed in Sudan, 25+ killed in Yemen, etc – will take a good chunk of the show.
We’ve also got to cover the latest Iranian military upgrades, the latest Iranian nuclear upgrades, and the latest mindblowingly evil Iranian stoning and torture case. Luckily we won’t have to cover all of the diplomatic efforts underways to save Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani – insofar as, you know – but the rest of the topics are going to make for a busy show. And that’s before we even get to the petulant reality that Obama lives in, which absolutely has to get covered at some point. I’m genuinely not sure what’s worse: that he actually thinks that Israelis distrust him because of his middle name, which means that his understanding of genuine Israeli diplomatic and security concerns remains at zero, or that he somehow thought this was a clever thing to say. Like maybe Israelis would feel bad that they hurt his feelings or something. Does anyone in the White House know anything about the Middle East?
Anyway, you can tune in live at 10:00am either by going to the main show page or by visiting the page for this morning’s episode. The chatroom and switchboard will both be open. Official blurb:
Omri covers the media scandals which have erupted in the past few weeks, from new evidence of international anti-Israel double standards to the damage being done to media institutions by the JournoList scandal. Critics of anti-Israel media bias have long insisted that, above and beyond explicit hostility toward the Jewish State, foreign policy journalists write in an echo chamber where criticism of Israel’s genocidal enemies just never comes up. The recent JournoList leaks, which show ostensibly unnbiased reporters (preemptively) celebrating the irrelevance of pro-Israel and neoconservative voices, goes far in confirming that impression. Taken with the recent meltdowns of long-known anti-Israel media figures, including Helen Thomas and Octavia Nasr, they badly damage what little credibility mainstream media outlets still had in the context of Middle East reporting.
Seriously. His middle name. He can’t really think that, can he?
