Per last week’s show, Obama’s proximity talks – following the model of Jewish/Arab dialogue established by Neville Chamberlain – are a particularly dishonest way of eventually scapegoating Israel for the breakdown of peace talks. The hypocrisy of the spectacle became a bit more pointed over the weekend, with the White House condescendingly promising to “hold accountable” any Israeli or Palestinian who undermines trust. That promise doesn’t seem to include actually holding any Palestinian leader accountable, as the Palestinian President or Prime Minister have both engaged in some relatively unnuanced provocations over just the last 3 or 4 days. Ergo tonight’s episode of One Jerusalem Radio’s TOCS.
As always you can tune in live at 6:30pm either by going to the main show page or by visiting the page for tonight’s episode. The chatroom and switchboard will of course both be open. Official blurb:
Omri covers the double standards already getting built into the recently-inaugurated proximity talks. While the Obama White House is calling on both sides to refrain from activities that would erode trust – and as they continue to implicitly lay the blame Israel for Palestinian intransigence – Palestinian leaders are growing increasingly bold in their anti-Israel activities. From Fatah’s anti-peace stance to Prime Minister Fayyad’s outright violation of Palestinian obligations, the Palestinian Authority is, if anything, moving in the opposite direction of peace. Diplomacy and media specialist Dan Diker calls in from Israel to detail a number of Palestinian provocations, including a shockingly brazen campaign by Fayyad to undermine Israel’s economic prosperity.
Since negotiation train wrecks are just anti-Israel diplomacy conducted through other means, I was going to include a segment about JCall, the European outpost of the mysteriously well-funded anti-Zionist JStreet. But then I remembered that it would be a segment about efforts to stem some kind of pro-Israel European tide, and I’m not sure I could maintain the kind of serious ethos One Jerusalem prefers through an entire segment on that.
So tonight’s segments are mostly going to be turned over to Middle East diplomacy, plus the obligatory This Week In Iranian Warmongering segment. Some of the regime’s recent moves have been all but explicit acts of war, but of course none have stopped Obama continues to grovel in the pathetic hope that the IRGC-controlled mullahcracy will pretend to indulge his engagement fetish.
