Apparently Obama’s diplomatic tour de force in the wake of the North Korea launch has yet to cow the mullahs into submission:
Iran criticized on Monday U.S. President Barack Obama for saying Tehran posed a threat with its nuclear program and urged Washington and other countries possessing atom weapons to dismantle their arsenals. “It seems that the repetition of the past U.S. administration’s accusations [against Iran] would be in contrast with the slogan of change [by Obama],” Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi told a news conference… “We, like the rest of the world community, are awaiting a world free of nuclear arms,” Qashqavi said. “Our expectation from the U.S. and others is to take serious and practical measures towards nuclear disarmament and dismantling of weapons of mass destruction,” he said.
For the record, Iran has enough material for between one and fifty nukes, they’ve surmounted the technological barriers to weaponizing it, and both the US Secretary of State and the US Director of National Intelligence don’t think that we can do anything about it. Their mastery of ballistic missile technology has translated into a new long-range rocket that they’re bragging about using against Israel.
Remember that time a few years ago when when the left eagerly latched onto the politicized NIE report and used it to prevent Bush from acting against Iran? Because Iranian nuclearization was just a feverish neocon warmongering lie? Good times.
