If Abbas is serious about getting Hamas to let Fatah rebuild Gaza – let alone about keeping his authority in the West Bank or asserting it over Hamas territory- he’d better act fast. At this rate there aren’t going to be many Fatah members left in some of those areas:

Or at least no Fatah members with their legs intact:

As an official matter, Hamas can’t decide between “dismissing any reconciliation” with Abbas or allowing Fatah back into the fold provided they turn openly genocidal. In the meantime they’re content to terrorize Fatah-linked Palestinian civilians.

As Carl points out, this story hasn’t gotten much play from Western media outlets. That must be disappointing to Hamas’s thugs, who literally made a public spectacle out of rounding up Fatah members to be tortured and killed:

Hamas militiamen have rounded up hundreds of Fatah activists on suspicion of “collaboration” with Israel during Operation Cast Lead, Fatah members in the Gaza Strip told The Jerusalem Post on Monday. They said the Hamas crackdown on Fatah intensified after the cease-fire went into effect early Sunday morning. The Fatah members and eyewitnesses said the detainees were being held in school buildings and hospitals that Hamas had turned into make-shift interrogation centers. Hamas has also renewed house arrest orders that were issued against thousands of Fatah officials and activists in the Gaza Strip shortly after the military operation started.

Of course Hamas tortured them in schools and hospitals. Of course they did.
