I’m kind of beginning to suspect that Palestinian hostility toward Israel may be driven by something other than territorial disputes:
Following are excerpts from an interview with Palestinian cleric Sa’d Abu Jleidan, which aired on November 6, 2008: Sa’d Abu Jleidan: The Koran warns against the hostility of the Jews, whom it presents as the worst enemies of the Muslims… Therefore, the Prophet waged a lengthy Jihad against them, which continues to this day, and will continue until the day of their annihilation, Allah willing. The Jews are known to be treacherous. They murdered their own prophets. Ibn Mas’oud said: The Israelites would kill 300 Prophets in a single day, and then they would go shopping for vegetables… When the Prophet Muhammad went to Al-Madina… We are hostile to the Jews only because they occupied our land and defiled our holy places. That’s why we declared war against them… We are honored to be the spearhead in defense of the honor of the Arab and Islamic nation in the face of these apes and pigs.
The whole psychotic ranting thing aside – if they’re still pissed off about the “Jewish occupation” of Medina do you really think that ceding East Jerusalem will calm the stormy waters of jihad? Hamas is slowly taking over the Temple Mount and they seem pretty far along in linking it to anti-Semitism to genocidal violence:
So yeah, I dunno. But while we’re on the topic of eternal jihad: this cleric – and several dozen of his like-minded friends – keep using “inner struggle for peace” as a synonym for “outward annihilationist war.” Strange, that.
By the by – if anti-Jihad organizations with online videos don’t (a) start enabling embedding and (b) stop using crappy platforms, I’m switching to the other side. Al Qaeda savages can bounce videos to Al Jazeera from a cave using only a satellite phone and a pile of sticks. But to embed a video that InfoLive jacked from PMW I need two Firefox plugins, a transcoder, and an abundance of patience that – frankly – I don’t have. And that’s before we get to the part where YouTube sent me a copyright notice on InfoLive’s behalf even though InfoLive’s contribution was using their logo to cover up PMW’s watermark. For fuck’s sake.
